Oman …every bikers paradise

Quriyat

A drive to check on the safety and the status of the roads to Quriyat was just what the doctor ‎ordered to organize a ride on the following Friday the 25th of November 2005 for the ‎members of the online club BikersOman.com

Well we headed to the Wadi Adai roundabout and headed left from there towards Quriyat. If ‎your coming from Seeb then you will need to take a right. We reset our meters to zero at the ‎Shell petrol station that appears on your right just after you enter the round from the ‎roundabout and headed straight to view factories and warehouses on the way.‎

The entire journey is picturesque with huge mountains and vast open spaces. We encountered ‎our first petrol pump at 10kms which was a shell again and after that an Al Maha petrol ‎pump. At 15kms we encountered an Oman Oil petrol pump, infact there were a total of 5 ‎roundabouts on our way, each having something different to exhibit. At the fifth roundabout ‎you turn left to head towards Quriyat after which the road becomes a two way road. ‎

From here on you get to see the most scenic locations of Oman but the speed you are cruising ‎at and the precautionary measures because of the road doesn’t allow you to enjoy these ‎scenes. You need to keep your eyes open for the road signs and maintain safe distance from ‎the vehicles in front of you. There usually are trucks carrying sand and construction material ‎on this route so you my encounter fallen sand and gravel on the road especially on slopes and ‎turns.‎

There was a police check point in the middle of our journey and we were inspected for our ID ‎cards and car registration. So I would advice you to carry your license and registration card ‎with you when heading towards Quriyat or any where for that matter.‎

We covered 80kms from the Wadi Adai roundabout till an Oman Oil Petrol right at the ‎beginning of Quriyat. From here on if you take a right you head towards Mazzara which is ‎like 20kms in distance. You experience the best of highs, lows, lefts and rights on this road ‎and at the end of it all you reach a beautiful wadi to stop for some fresh air and beauty ‎appreciation. This wadi however was flowing over the road and only cars and off road bikes ‎can cross it.‎

Total kms covered: 110km approx. one way to Mazzara‎
Time taken without any stops: 1˝ hours
Top Speed: 100km/hr
